Lewiston Library will be closed November 17-19
The Lewiston Public Library, located at 200, rue de Lisboa, is expected to be closed to the public from Wednesday to Friday November 17-19, and will reopen on Saturday November 20.
During the closure, the library will continue its RFID conversion work. The library has invested in RFID technology for its collection of 160,000 items, which will enable faster and future checkouts and self-check stations for patrons. Each item in the collection will receive an RFID tag linked to the library catalog, to improve the findability and security of the collection.
During the closure, security gates compatible with the new technology will also be installed and library staff will continue RFID tagging.
Online services will continue to be available 24/7 at libraryla.org. Interlibrary loan and LPL to Go, the library door pick-up service, will also be available during closure. Patrons can come to the library at their convenience once they receive a hold notification by phone or email. Staff will pack items on arrival and meet clients at the Pine Street door of the library.
All item requests should be made in advance by phone or online at minerva.maine.edu.
For up-to-date information or questions regarding the closure, contact the library at 207-513-3135, [email protected], or visit lplonline.org.
